Road Types

XenomatiX provides dataset measurements of road pavement including damages, markings and road conditions. We cover different road types, such as local roads, highways, off-roads, bridges and tunnels. The dataset consists of images obtained from a front and back facing lidar sensor attached to a vehicle, the XenoTrack. Each dataset includes geometrical 3D data, longitudinal cross-sections, intensity, and camera data. XenomatiX road data are used in a great variety of applications, i.e. road damage detection, simulation test and planning purposes from road authorities to road maintenance companies, from automotive simulation providers to automotive OEM test departments.

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include large and busy road with three lanes, smooth surface and clear road markings.

New Cobblestone Road

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include narrow street paved with rectangular sett stones, the famous Belgian cobblestones, newly paved.

Damaged Cobblestone Road

Characteristics of the pavement measured include narrow street based on cobble-sized stones of different sizes (famous Belgian cobblestones), with a road profile deteriorated over time due to traffic impact.

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include an uneven concrete surface.

XenomatiX Road Dataset

Damaged Asphalt Road

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include various small cracks and a 5cm wide crack in the asphalted road.

Gravel road

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include unpaved road surfaced with gravel and no surfaced material added. Located in a rural area.

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include a stony track, unpaved road made from native material of the land surface. Located in a rural area.

Rough Dirt Road

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include a dirt sandy unpaved road made from native material of the land surface. Located in a rural area.

Pothole Track

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include an asphalted pavement with a hollow in a road surface, caused by erosion of weather or traffic.

Speedbump road - XenomatiX Road Dataset

Speed bump

Characteristics of the road pavement measured include a speed bump that spans the entire width of the road, covered in asphalt with road markings. Approximate height of 100mm.
