Pavement Management System
Not just road data!
XenomatiX is evolving beyond advanced pavement inspection technology toward a comprehensive platform for road management. This includes supporting municipalities not only in acquiring high-quality pavement data, but also in enabling informed budget planning and optimizing road maintenance decisions.
XenomatiX is actively collaborating with municipalities across Belgium to advance long-term digital road management solutions.
Use Case: Belgian Local Road Authorities
In recent municipal tenders, the requirements included:
- Replace subjective visual inspections with consistent, repeatable measurements
- Provide long-term road condition monitoring over a defined period
- Enable trend analysis of pavement deterioration over time
- Support strategic budget planning and maintenance prioritization
- Reduce the risk of costly road reconstructions by enabling early interventions

In response, XenomatiX proposed its 6D road scanning system combined with a simplified ‘light’ Pavement Management System (PMS), using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) as a standardized metric for evaluating and tracking road health over time. A typical 6D Road Scanning offer from XenomatiX includes:
- Automated data acquisition of road surface conditions
- Objective PCI-based condition scoring (also IRI, Rutting, ect..)
- Integration with existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Advise priorities of which streets/sections to maintain/repair first
- Regular monitoring, Trend Analysis and deterioration forecast for PMS
XenomatiX’ platform allows municipalities to regularly monitor road conditions and organizing that information in a structured system (a GIS often already available at the LRA) to better plan maintenance. Instead of reacting to complaints by citizens, they can identify deterioration trends, schedule repairs in advance, allocate budgets more efficiently, and hence save budget. This approach leads to more proactive maintenance, reduced long-term costs, and better use of public resources.
