Inspect more road, without increasing time, resources or cost.

Inspecting wide roads, highways or runways can require significantly more time, more vehicle mileage and more operational effort than surveying a standard road. Lanes are often surveyed separately, requiring multiple passes to collect a complete picture of the pavement condition.  

Conventional pavement assessment systems measure one lane at the time of up to 4 meter wide at best. Surveying a multi-lane road, with a standard system, means an increase in required time, mileage and operational effort. 

What if an inspection vehicle can capture more of the road every time it drove? 

XenomatiX developed the XenoTrack Dual Lane system that can cover 6 to 8 meters of road width (depending on use case), two neighbouring lanes — or wider surfaces such as runways — in a single pass. For highways, runways and other wide roads, this means more pavement can be surveyed in a one drive.  

The value of wider coverage, up to 8 meter per pass, translates into a more efficient inspection operation:

Dual Lane is not only valuable for larger pavements but also for large-scale and time-sensitive pavement inspection projects. 

Mapping Lommel with Dual Lane 

Lommel, Belgium, chose 6D road scanning with the XenoTrack Dual Lane. XenomatiX was commissioned to collect pavement inspection data of the entire road network, including residential streets, city-centre roads and major connecting roads. The survey also extended to the city’s cycling infrastructure, with the quality of bike lanes assessed and mapped.

In total, the project covered approximately 300 km of roads and 80 km of bike lanes. Using the Dual Lane for this project the data was collected in one week, allowing the team to spend more time planning and prioritising the next road works.
