Top Marks in VTI’s Benchmark Test at DuraBASt

Leuven, Belgium – January 27, 2026 – XenomatiX, a global solution provider in advanced road inspection technology with true solid-state lidar technology, has demonstrated exceptional performance in the European Road Profiling Benchmark conducted at the DuraBASt test site in Cologne, Germany. The benchmark, executed by the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), represents one of the most rigorous international evaluations of road inspection systems, providing independent validation of measurement accuracy and reliability.

The DuraBASt test site, a dedicated facility operated in collaboration with the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) and other national and international transport certification organizations, hosts advanced evaluations of road and pavement assessment technologies. In October 2024, XenomatiX participated in 9 out of 11 benchmark measures, marking it as one of the most active participants in this prestigious test.

The benchmark evaluated 23 systems across three categories—Profilers, Mobile Mapping Systems, and Connected Vehicle systems—against a certified ground truth obtained through VTI’s precise research systems. XenomatiX, in the category of Mobile Mapping Systems, scored high across the measures in both accuracy and repeatability:

  • International Roughness Index (IRI): Demonstrating precise measurement of road smoothness and ride quality;
  • Rutting Depth and Sliding Wire Rut Depth: Accurate detection of rut formation, critical for road safety and maintenance planning;
  • Mean Profile Depth (MPD): Enabling the estimation of skid resistance and noise characteristics of pavement;
  • WLP (sigma and delta) or Weighted Longitudinal Profile: Distinguishing between irregular, periodic, and transient unevenness to improve pavement assessment accuracy;
  • Hilliness: characterizing long-wavelenght road elevation changes to evaluate the accessibility by and safety for vehicle categories and
  • Absolution Positioning and Height: Allocating pavement characteristics to precise positions on the world coordinates for practical maintenance planning and execution.

What this means for customers: XenomatiX’ results demonstrate a system capable of streamlining road assessment and maintenance planning. Customers can rely on highly accurate data, benefit from a faster and more efficient inspection process compared to traditional methods and achieve a strong return on investment from their deployment.

“The DuraBASt benchmark by VTI is a key international evaluation for road inspection technologies under strict and objective testing conditions,” said Filip Geuens, CEO of XenomatiX. “Scoring high across these measures confirms the strength of XenomatiX’ system in delivering precise, reliable, and actionable data for our customers worldwide.”

The results were presented at the ERPUG (European Road Profiler User Group) Conference in October 2025, with the formal benchmark report published in December 2025.
