Client Story – Agentschap Wegen & Verkeer

Agentschap Wegen & Verkeer (AWV), a governmental agency in Belgium responsible for the management and maintenance of the road network, commissioned XenomatiX to conduct a 3D measurement of a newly paved road. The objective was to identify the cause of discomfort experienced while driving.

PROBLEM – Drivers reported discomforting vibrations in the newly constructed road surface. Conventional tests failed to detect them.

OUR APPROACHWithout road closure and just a drive-thru, XenomatiX digitized the road, providing quantitative results for assessing its condition, including flatness coefficients, International Roughness Index (IRI) values, rutting heights and most important a visual representation of the 3D road model.

ANALYSIS & RESULTS – Flatness coefficients revealed three distinct sections of the roadway with varying levels of irregularities. VC2.5 and VC10 coefficients showed certain intervals where the road was particularly bumpy. Height profiles and 3D digital models of the road clearly pointed out the same irregularities.

XenomatiX’ systematic approach has provided us with clear and actionable

insights into the condition of our roads.

We appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of their system. (XenoTrack)
