Surface Systems and Instruments, Inc. (SSI), leader in roadway data collection systems, adds XenomatiX technology within its portfolio to improve traditional profiling and scanning workflows. By integrating XenomatiX’ true solid state lidar technology into its mobile surveying platform, SSI created a new solution for the market branded the SSI CSL-90.

SSI customers recently deployed the SSI CSL-90 on differential milling projects in the USA which have benefitted from the rapid setup, highway collection speeds, and point cloud processing within SSI software. Data can be collected, processed, and on the milling machine in under 2 hours.

Milling projects using machine control require accurate surface condition data and accurate GPS positioning. However, many contractors rely on time-consuming measurement methods that require days or weeks of data processing. SSI sought a height sensor that would improve the portability of the six laser SSI CS9500 scanning system. The SSI CSL-90 uses the XenomatiX’ solid state LiDAR sensor to report a 4m width. The sensor can be mounted to a vehicle roof, bedrail, or hitch in minutes. The hardware designed by SSI is factory calibrated to eliminate the need for field alignment.

The Solution: SSI’s CSL-90 with XenoTrack

SSI uses XenomatiX’ solid-state LiDAR technology as the height measurement sensor in the CSL-90 system. All data is collected and processed within SSI Profiler software, which is used by hundreds of profiling systems around the world. After collection within SSI Profiler software, operators can process the GPS corrections and cloud stitching within the same SSI Profiler software.
